It is no exaggeration to say that we are the UK’s experts in arranging trips to Africa for Tigerfish, and have been for the last 30 years. We have excellent relationships with the best lodges and this is reflected in the amount of return visitors we have.
This experience also means that we can tailor all of our trips accordingly to take in the iconic Victoria Falls or add game viewing according to requirements. For the uninitiated the tiger fish is probably Africa’s finest and most awesome game fish. For sheer aggression – pound for pound – it must rank as one of the world’s most powerful freshwater species and the Zambezi is full of them! The tiger possesses a ferocious set of 18 large, triangular razor sharp teeth enclosed in a bony head and is distinctive by its black/blue lateral tiger stripes with bright yellow and red caudal fin.
Following customer feedback we have also incorporated a mini safari at the end of this trip to witness the remarkable game in the Hwange National Park. Not only including a full days safari but the chance to relax with a cold drink as elephants and other animals visit the watering holes less than 20 metres away.

The Lodge
LOCATION:

TACKLE REQUIRED:
Medium and heavy weight spinning rods and and fixed spool reels or baitcasters, with 2500 – 5000 size fixed spool or multipliers and 30 – 50 lbs braid. Trolling lures, diving plugs and spoons. Limited amount of tackle is available at the lodge
CLOTHING/CLIMATE:
Shirts & shorts & a wide brimmed hat. 80 to 90 degrees, Very hot during peak season

Comfortable riverside lodges with flushing toilets and showers

Usual for tropical Africa. An anti malaria course is essential – seek professional advice
Sample Itinerary
DAY 1 :
Overnight flight from UK to Livingstone via Johannesburg.
DAY 2 DEPARTURE TO THE LODGE:
After being escorted through the airport you will be transferred by road ( or air if road is unavailable ) to the lodge for your African adventure ( Full Board accommodation, drinks not included ). Familiarise yourself with the lodge and have drinks overlooking the mighty Zambezi just absorbing the unique sights, smells and sounds of Africa before sitting down for dinner around the central fire ( African TV !!! )
DAY 3:
Awaken to the unique sounds of the bush! A typical day at Mutemwa or if staying at Sioma Falls starts with tea/tea and oat porridge before the first fishing session begins on the Zambezi River.
After a mornings session return to the lodge for a late breakfast / brunch and a brief siesta if required before setting out for the afternoon sessions before returning to the lodge to watch the sun go down and listen to the bush come alive whilst dinner is being prepared for you.
DAY 4:
After breakfast you will set off in your boats, taking a packed lunch, fishing up stream, with porterage help through a few rapids. Fish the deep channels and rapids all the way from Mutemwa, through the Top and Kaale Rapids to a beach below the Sioma Falls.
This will be your base for the next few days, a unique experience, totally isolated yet maintaining excellent service and food throughout. This is not a place where you will find Air Con or WiFi, but you will see quite possibly the greatest sunsets and shooting stars you’ve ever seen.
DAYS 5 – 10:
Days 5, 6 & 7 are spent fishing the deep gorges and structure around Sioma Falls, this is where the real giants can be found and a double figure fish is a very likely possibility.
Day 8 is spent fishing your way back to Mutemwa lodge.
Day 9 & 10 fishing around Mutemwa lodge
After an early breakfast settle your drinks bill and pay for any lost or broken tackle. You will then be transferred by road or air back to Livingstone and across the bridge into Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls.
We will be stopping to visit the majestic falls at Victoria Falls before continuing to Hwange National park to begin your safari experience.
