Golden Dorado

Don Joaquin River Lodge is located in Esquina, Corrientes,  on the banks of the Corrientes River and where it meets the Parana River a delta is formed providing a wonderful setting for Golden Dorado fly, bait and lure fishing  Fishing enthusiasts will also find Pacu, Pira Pita and Suribi (see list below)

The golden dorado in these rivers are known as the “river tiger” and are one of the most exciting and challenging experiences, especially on a fly, due to its fighting abilities.    With its great weight and strength, it is a powerful fighter who strikes aggressively, leaps high and runs hard!!

The Corriente and Parana rivers offer pristine environments for fly fishing. Without much boat traffic the rivers are quiet and clean and are thriving ecosystems with a rich variety of flora and fauna. The Parana river is the second longest river in South America and famous for its dorado fishing. The Corriente river begins in the Ibera Wetlands, the second largest wetlands on the planet and the largest source of fresh groundwater.   The lodge is located in a very special and unique part of the world and the fishing here reflects that.

Tucked away on the banks of the Corriente River in the city of Esquina in Argentina, this hidden gem offers prized fresh water Dorado fly fishing in a truly spectacular wetland wilderness.   This family owned and run traditional Argentinian working estancia welcomes  their guests with the warmest of Argentine hospitality.   Guests will experience the thrill of sport fishing for the famous golden dorado in pristine rivers, share delicious meals with friends and relax in their elegantly decorate lodge.  All skill levels are welcome – if you are a novice they will teach you!
