We are delighted to be able to offer this tropical paradise in the Indian Ocean. This is a year round fishery and the majority of the game fish are permanently present.

The waters surrounding Mitsio archipelago, in the north west point of Madagascar are home to a 70km long underwater continental shelf, this vast plateau has depths ranging to 90m, with an average of 40-50m. Many islands, underwater humps and reefs provide a wide choice of fishing spots, with additional pelagic activity.

Sample Itinerary

DAY 1 ARRIVAL:
Depart UK for overnight flight to Nosybe airport via Addis Ababa.

DAY 2 ARRIVAL / TRANSFER TO THE LODGE:
On arrival at Nosybe you will be met at the airport and transferred to a beachfront hotel where you will meet your boats and captains for the week who will transfer you across the Indian Ocean to Mitsio Lodge. A cold beer whilst the boats are loaded and then a 3 hour boat transfer.

On arrival at Mitsio your luggage will be taken to your rooms and dinner will be prepared. This is an ideal opportunity for the captains and deckies to come and advise you on your tackle and they will retie leaders etc and ensure that you are ready for your next days fishing.

DAY 3 – 7 FISHING:
Every morning, breakfast is served from 06:00, a cooler for each boat is prepared by the kitchen staff with a packed lunch and your choice of  drinks. A leisurely breakfast and the boat skippers will come and meet you at the lodge and you will make the short walk to your boats.

Lunch is taken on the boat around midday (depending on the fishing action of course!). A fishing day usually finishes around 17:00 but is dependent on where and how the fishing has been.

There is no set schedule for any day although any requests can be made if you want to spend the day trolling for billfish or target specific species. Generally the skippers are the experts so it is usually best to let them decide !!

On return to the lodge you can relax with a drink and compare results as dinner is cooked and cocktails are distributed.

Day 8

This is your final days fishing so your non fishing bags need to be packed and left at the lodge, these are transferred to the mainland on a separate boat whilst you fish throughout the day, heading back to Nosybe late afternoon, fishing the dropoffs on the way back.

Check in to your beachfront hotel for the next 3 nights ( B&B ), sample the pool and enjoy the view and relax from the exertions of the previous days.

DAY 9 & 10 SIGHTSEEING:

These 2 days have been added to give you the opportunity to experience the unique flora and fauna of Madagascar.

There are many organised tours available, from snorkelling and scuba diving to the highly recommended visit to a local national park where you can usually see Lemurs, Chameleons, and many other reptiles in their natural jungle environment.

Alternatively just chill out by the pool or on the glorious beaches.
