FISHING IN EGYPT – Lake Nasser

There is no other place in the world that evokes such mysticism and spirituality as ancient Egypt, and time spent time fishing the immense Lake Nasser will never be forgotten. Whether catching acrobatic Tiger fish in the shadows of ancient temples or casting for Nile Perch from the islands that used to be mountain tops you will never forget this experience. Sleeping on the top of one of the boats is unforgettable, there are none of the interruptions or noises of modern life, just you, the stars, the croaking frogs and maybe the telltale splash of a crocodile sliding into the depths ……

JOHN’S VIEW:

A real boy’s own week afloat. In addition to trolling we lure fish from the shore for Nile Perch and fly fish or light spin for tiger fish. Numbers of fish have declined in recent years due to commercial fishing but fish over 80 lbs are caught most weeks. My TV programme Lake Nasser Safari shows the very best this enigmatic lake has to offer
