This exciting new purpose built is built in one of the most productive, underfished areas in Costa Rica.
This lodge has been built by a very passionate, experienced overseas angler from the UK who has visited many lodges and understands exactly what the travelling angler requires.
The fishing on this trip will cover both bluewater and inshore as we have access to 2 centre console boats.
The standard trip will be a combination of offshore fishing for the many sailfish, tuna and marlin and inshore fishing for Cubera, Roosterfish and Snook to name but a few. A truly unique location and a chance for you to be one of the first to experience this amazing location.
The Lodge
The lodge was purpose-built to accommodate anglers who wish to have a peaceful, social fishing trip.
Southern Drake Lodge is located on a picturesque mountaintop in Drake Bay with unrivalled views across the rainforest and national park as well as Drake Bay itself. Our goal is that our guests enjoy absolute tranquility and harmony with the surrounding nature.
It is designed with a rustic and country style, without leaving aside the conveniences of A/C, hot water and wifi internet. The place is also famous for its simple yet delicious cuisine.
This promises to be a firm favourite among our clients and will soon become one of our most popular trips.
Sample Itinerary
DAY 1 ARRIVAL:
When you arrive at San Jose International Airport in Costa Rica (via regional local airport and Amsterdam), after immigration, baggage claim and customs you will meet your driver who will transport you to your hotel near the airport. Night in San Jose (B&B)
DAY 2 DEPARTURE TO THE LODGE:
At 8.00am, transfer to San Jose airport for a short flight to Drake Bay and an onwards transfer to the lodge, approximately 10 mins. Arrive at the lodge mid afternoon, a quick welcome drink and once you have settled in your room and sampled the pool, you will have plenty of time to organize your fishing tackle and discuss the upcoming fishing before dinner at a local restaurant ( included ).
DAYS 3 – 8 FISHING:
Every morning, breakfast is served at 06:45, meanwhile a cooler for each boat is prepared locally with a packed lunch and your choice of drinks. As soon as you finish your breakfast, we will drive you to the beach, where the captains and the boats will be waiting for you.
You will be fishing for 4 fishing days inshore and offshore for 2 days. Lunch is taken on the boat around midday (depending on the fishing action of course!). A fishing day usually finishes around 16:45.
We will drive you back to the lodge, where you can relax, soak in the pool and have a drink ( or 2 ) and discuss the days events. Dinner at a local restaurant or a BBQ at the lodge ( included )
Day 10, Departure:
Spend the morning packing away your tackle before transferring back to the airport, local charter from Drake Bay to San Jose.
Evening / overnight flight to Amsterdam / Final UK Destination.

This includes Bed & Breakfast accommodation at the San Jose hotel (twin room), Full Board accommodation at the lodge (max 2 to a room), all transfers and international flights, rods and reels, 6 days fishing, max 3 to a boat.
