Fishing Costa Rica

Tarpon Lodge is an intimate lodge on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast. The island location fronts both the jungle rivers as well as the Caribbean coast. This lodge is purposely small (10 guests) and the accommodation is modern, charming and comfortable. There are many elements of Costa Rica that identify it as one of the world’s great Eco destinations, but none can compare with the waters in Tortuguero National Park. The lodge has local English speaking guides, experienced and licensed to guide in Costa Rica’s most treasured National Park—Tortuguero—home of giant Tarpon.

Perhaps as famous is the incredibly famous display of wildlife such as Saltwater Crocs, Sloths, Manatee, Jaguar, Howler and Whiteface monkeys and one of the world’s great bird populations. Angler and Eco tourist alike will find this area unforgettable.

This region has been famous with globetrotting Tarpon anglers since the time of Hemingway and Zane Grey. Other species you can expect to catch in the region include: Snook, Cobia, Jack Crevalle and more …..

Jungle Tarpon Lodge is open all year. Weather can be unpredictable in Costa Rica. Seas are calm during spring and summer months, early winter ( Oct/Nov/Dec ) can provide great fishing if the rain is not bad. Peak Tarpon season is February through June, but one can catch Tarpon literally all year round – they are resident!

The daily schedule calls for offshore fishing in the morning (weather and waves permitting for tarpon fishing) before returning to the lodge for a lunch. Afterwards it’s more fishing! Afternoons are scheduled in the jungles, exploring the myriad of rivers, canals, lagoons and bays of the water-crossed region.
