Aurelia Lodge is located on the island of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.   It was built by refurbishing the main house of Estancia Rosita, without losing the charm of a traditional Patagonian estancia.   This lodge has 15,000 hectares of land, which include 14 km of the Rio Grande and more than 25 km of the Rio Menendez and is licensed,  by the government of Tierra del Fuego,  to operate  with exclusive fishing rights on both banks of these two rivers.

Both rivers offer easy wading, with the riverbed being mainly fine gravel.

Following your morning session, you will usually return to the lodge for lunch, which is then followed by a siesta. The afternoon fishing session starts in the mid-afternoon to capitalise on the magical dusk fishing period.    This is all reserved for just 6 rods!!

The accommodation

Aurelia Lodge comfortably accommodates four guests in single, en-suite bedrooms.   Guests enjoy spacious rooms, large fully appointed private bathrooms, a warm and welcoming reception area, and a comfortable dining room with great views. There is also a small tackle shop, a separate asado (traditional Argentine barbecue) room, wader room and lounge.

Non-fishing guests are also welcome at Aurelia with an abundance of other outdoor activities available, such as; horseback riding, wildlife viewing excursions to see some of the abundant local wildlife, flocks of wild geese, plentiful herds of guanacos, grey foxes, many species of raptors and other Patagonian birds, and the magnificent condors, with an 8 foot wingspans.

Your guides

The guides at the lodge are some of the best in the business. All speak really good English and know the rivers like the back of their hands.

 Getting to the fishing grounds

Once at the lodge and settled in, the fishing will start the following day. You’ll be driven to each pool via 4×4 with your guide. After the morning session, you’ll be taken back to the lodge for lunch and a nice well-earned siesta ready for the evening session.

Target species

Sea run brown trout or sea trout.
